Islam/Salaam (Al Salamu Allah [swt] Aaikum),
in the Moorish Science Temple of America (Allah's Temple) we teach our members to give PRAISE to ALLAH (swt) a minimum of three times a day, as this is what I was taught coming into this movement. now, one may give praise, or go to ALLAH (swt) in prayer, any time one feels the need, if you feel the need to right now, GO DO IT!!!!
but we teach our members to do so THREE TIMES DAILY, once when you get up, in the middle of your day, and once before you lay back down.
some have tried to say, this is not the "orthodox" way to perform SALAT, RAKAT, SAJDAH, DUA, or anything else. and this is true, how MOSLEMS in the MSTA do things is not the ORTHODOX WAY, we do them the RIGHT WAY according to the HOLY KORAN (AL QURAN AL ADHIYM) OF MECCA. and anyone that has a problem with that, it is their problem and not ours.
but what I will do here for your further understanding is go through the HKOM (GREAT KORAN OF MOHAMMED 15:87), and show you why we only do THREE minimum (even though I do not have a problem with a Moor doing the five traditional SALAWAT (SALATS) you see those in the east doing..
now I know that WIKIPEDIA is not the final authority on anything in ISLAM, but I want you to read this from that site so you will see it is not just ME telling you these things;
"Salah is prescribed at five periods of the day as part of tradition (however the Qur'an only calls for three), which are measured according to the movement of the sun. These are: near dawn (fajr), just after the sun's noon (dhuhr), in the afternoon (asr), just after sunset (maghrib) and around nightfall (isha'a). Under some circumstances prayers can be shortened or combined (according to prescribed procedures). Prayers can be missed in serious cases, but they should be made up later."
notice it says that the five daily SALAWAT are "PART OF TRADITION", meaning they are not actually LAW (FARD or HALAL), they do not HAVE TO BE PERFORMED according to THE KORAN (QURAN).
notice it also mentions that ONLY THREE PERIODS OF TIME ARE MENTIONED, and if you look, you will see NOWEHRE IN THE KORAN does it say you have to perform a ritual of QIYYAM-RUKU-QIYYAM-SAJDAH-JALSA, etc.
the FIVE (or SEVEN) PILLARS, as PILLARS, is not found in the KORAN (QURAN) either, all of this is TRADITION, not LAW (FARD or HALAL).
now pay attention to this portion of WIKIPEDIA on the matter;
"The salat of one Muslim may differ from another in minor details, which can affect the precise actions and words involved. Differences arise because of different interpretations of the Islamic legal sources by the different madhhabs (schools of law) in Sunni Islam, and by different legal traditions within Shi'ism. In the case of salat these differences are generally very minor, and they are not necessarily causes of dispute. It is important to note the reason why sunni Muslims have a basic agreement on the necessary part of the Prayer. Muslims believe that the Prophet Muhammad practiced, taught and disseminated the worship ritual in the whole community and made it part of their life. The practice has, therefore, been concurrently and perpetually practiced by the community in each of the generations. In its basic form the salah is not based on the hadiths or the Qur'an but on the consensus of Muslims . Differences also occur due to optional (recommended rather than obligatory) articles of salat, for example which verses of the Qur'an to recite."
the different performances of "SALAT" varies from one MOSLEM group to another, WHY??? because it is not in the KORAN (QURAN), it is only in TRADITION, and the most universally accepted TRADITION is called ORTHODOX, but that doesnt make it RIGHT, only the KORAN (QURAN) can make it LAW (FARD or HALAL).
notice it says "MUSLIMS BELIEVE THAT THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD PRATCICED, TAUGHT" etc. it does not say they have any ACTUAL RECORD of this, which is why the SALAT varies from one to the other.
because they are putting different pieces together in order to CREATE thei own idea of the SALAT.
notice it also says "IN ITS BASIC FORM THE SALAH IS NOT BASED ON THE HADOTHS OR THE QURAN", think on that??? I mean really think on that??? then what is their SOURCE OF INFORMATION, because they will act like YOU MUST DO IT HOW THEY SAY OR YOUR GOING TO HELL, right????
now, lets look at this fact;
The numbers of regular Salat mentioned by their respective names in Arabic in the Qur'an are three as follows:
Salat Fajr (Dawn Prayer) = 24:58
Salat Al wusta (Middle Prayer) = 2:238, 17:78
Salat Isha'a (Night/evening Prayer) = 24:58
go to these AYAT (verses/signs), and you will not see any SPECIFIC WAY OF PERFORMING THESE SALAT. notice that carefully. there is no mention of how to make a "RAKAT" (ritualized RUKU). in fact, the word RAKAT is only speaking of "RUKU", not QIYYAM, SAJDAH, or JALSA. think deeply about all of this??
now, The following three Salat which are not mentioned in Qur'an by their names as a SALAT in Arabic are as:
Salat Maghrib (maghrib does not mean sunset, it means "west")
However, others argue the words “Dhuhr (ظهر)”, “Asr (عصر)” and “Maghrib (مغرب)” are used in the Qur'an but not as a term defining “Salat”. The word “noon” is used but not as a “Salat Time” or as a “Salat Al-Dhuhr”, but rather than as a “Time of Privacy/Rest Time” in 24:58.
Salat Dhur is a TIME OF REST, and thats it. think about it??? now read these AYAT, and see how they are spoken of.
and I want you to pay careful attention;
17:78. Aqimi al ssalata li dulooki al shshamsi ila ghasaqi al layli wa qur-ana al fajri inna qur-ana al fajri kana mashhoodan
YUSUFALI: Establish regular prayers - at the sun's decline till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the prayer and reading in the morning carry their testimony.
PICKTHAL: Establish worship at the going down of the sun until the dark of night, and (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn. Lo! (the recital of) the Qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed.
SHAKIR: Keep up prayer from the declining of the sun till the darkness of the night and the morning recitation; surely the morning recitation is witnessed.
prerform The Salat (Al Salat) to descending of The Sun (Al Shamsi), to the darkness of The Night (Al Layli) and Quran the Morning (Al Fajri), verily, Quran in the morning (Al Fajri) will be that which is witnessed (mashhuwdan).
the wod "DULUK" means to RUB, and represents when the SUN is RUBBING THE HORIZON as SUNSET.
notice it only tells you to perform (which some translate as establish) the Salat at he descedning of the "SUN", this is late afternoon, after the SUN was at its HIGHEST, and is headed to SUN SET, and the darkness of night. this would also be considered the "WUSTA" (MIDDLE). whee you are STANDING (QUWMU) at.
while the morning is used here primarily for READING THE QURAN.
2:238. Hafithoo AAala al ssalawati wa al ssalati al wusta wa qoomoo lillahi qaniteena
YUSUFALI: Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers, especially the Middle Prayer; and stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind).
PICKTHAL: Be guardians of your prayers, and of the midmost prayer, and stand up with devotion to Allah.
SHAKIR: Attend constantly to prayers and to the middle prayer and stand up truly obedient to Allah.
protect (hafidhu) over the salat (Al Salat), and the salat (Al Salat) of the middle (Al wusta), and stand to (toward/before/facing) ALLAH (swt) without speaking.
here we see SALAT is done "STANDING", if you will remember above in the wikipedia statements, it mentions other forms of POSITIONS OF PRAISE/RESPECT such as SAJDAH (prostarting) and RUKU (bowing), but here it specifically notes that AL SALAT is STANDING BEFORE ALLAH (swt) IN SILENCE. think on this and HKMSTA 11, when sepaking of the ELOHIM.
24:58. Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo liyasta/thinkumu allatheena malakat aymanukum waallatheena lam yablughoo alhuluma minkum thalatha marratin min qabli salati alfajri waheena tadaAAoona thiyabakum mina alththaheerati wamin baAAdi salati alAAisha-i thalathu AAawratin lakum laysa AAalaykum wala AAalayhim junahun baAAdahunna tawwafoona AAalaykum baAAdukum AAala baAAdin kathalika yubayyinu Allahu lakumu al-ayati waAllahu AAaleemun hakeemun
YUSUFALI: O ye who believe! let those whom your right hands possess, and the (children) among you who have not come of age ask your permission (before they come to your presence), on three occasions: before morning prayer; the while ye doff your clothes for the noonday heat; and after the late-night prayer: these are your three times of undress: outside those times it is not wrong for you or for them to move about attending to each other: Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.
PICKTHAL: O ye who believe! Let your slaves, and those of you who have not come to puberty, ask leave of you at three times (before they come into your presence): Before the prayer of dawn, and when ye lay aside your raiment for the heat of noon, and after the prayer of night. Three times of privacy for you. It is no sin for them or for you at other times, when some of you go round attendant upon others (if they come into your presence without leave). Thus Allah maketh clear the revelations for you. Allah is Knower, Wise.
SHAKIR: O you who believe! let those whom your right hands possess and those of you who have not attained to puberty ask permission of you three times; before the morning prayer, and when you put off your clothes at midday in summer, and after the prayer of the nightfall; these are three times of privacy for you; neither is it a sin for you nor for them besides these, some of you must go round about (waiting) upon others; thus does Allah make clear to you the communications, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.
above it mentions two "SALAWAT" (SALATS);
Salati-al-fajri - morning salat
salat-al-a'aisha - evening salat
this is the only one that actually mentions a "MORNING" SALAT, and an actual "EVENING" SALAT.
now, I might say that SALAT-AL-A'AISHA is "AL SALAT AL WUSTA", because if they really wanted to say NIGHT TIME SALAT (WORSHIP), it would be "LAYLI". so really I see the posibility of only two WORSHIPS. but I am more than willing to see all these as three different SALAT. I can see it.
so we have;
and these should be performed while "STANDING", not PROSTRATING or BOWING. because "SALAT" (WORSHIP) is done STANDING according to the KORAN (QURAN), but the MOSLEMS in the EAST have added all of the different positions mentioned in the KORAN (QURAN) and made up a RAKAT (A RITUALIZED PERFORMANCE OF DIFFERENT POSITIONS).
and they know this, this is why they start out in QIYYAM, and QIYYAM is the only position done twice in a RAKAT. because it is the only position that is prescribed by the KORAN (QURAN) during SALAT. while at other times, ones are called to SAJDAH (prostrating) and RUKU (bowing), which I will cover later.
what does WIKIPEDIA mention on this very fact, I am saying;
"Some Quranists however believe that there are only two Salat, dawn and dusk including the times of night close to these two periods. This is based on there being no specific reference to a noon or afternoon prayer in the Quran, and the meaning of 'Wusta' as 'middling/moderate(not extreme)', referring to how one is to pray or referring to being modest about one's prayer. The word 'Al-Wusta' can even mean 'the best.' There is no consensus among Quranists as to the correct number of prayer."
"QURANIST" is a name given to those MOSLEMS that ONLY FOLLOW THE KORAN (QURAN), not the books called the HADITH OF MOHAMMED (asa), and not books called the SUNNAH OF MOHAMMED (asa), both of those being put together by MEN after MOHAMMED (asa) had long been gone.
always remember that what is being called "SUNNAH OF MOHAMMAD" is really a collection of things taken out of the HADITH, there is no real separate BOOK written by MOHAMMED called his SUNNAH. the MOSLEMS of the EAST took different things about MOHAMMEDS LIFE out of the HADITH and called it his SUNNAH (TRADITION/CUSTOMS = WAY OF LIFE).
so really there is only the HADITH and the KORAN (AL QURAN AL ADHIYM), and the KORAN (QURAN) is the BEST OF HADITH, in fact, for ALLAH's TEMPLE it is the ONLY TRUE HADITH (ORAL STATEMENTS) that matters. if you understand me???
we do not follow the MERE IDEAS OF MEN, like the FIQH (PHEKAH) that is in existence today among
most of the MOSLEMS in the EAST, and let me also say this too. FIQH is not about intellectually understanding the "LAWS OF ISLAM", it is about intellectually understanding THE LAWS OF ISLAM IN THE KORAN (QURAN), they keep trying to get away from that fact. but all of the LAWS OF ISLAM are found in KORAN (HKOM and HKMSTA), not in any other sources. the other sources all receive their knowledge, wisdom and understanding of ISLAM from the KORAN (HKOM and HKMSTA); THE COMPLETE KORAN.
stop letting them tell you about ISLAM or LAWS OF ISLAM outside of the KORAN (HKOM and HKMSTA), not that the RELIGION did not begin before that, but we will not really be able to recognize what is ISLAM and what is not without a GUIDE used to MEASURE truth from falsehood, right from wrong, truth from error. this is why we were given a KORAN (HKOM and HKMTSA) in the first place, so we can use it for this very purpose.
SHARIAH is not found in the KORAN (QURAN), HADITH is not found in the KORAN (QURAN), SUNNAH is not found in the KORAN (QURAN), etc. unless it is the SHARIAH, HADITH and SUNNAH of ALLAH (swt) himself. thats the only thing MOSLEMS are worrieed about.
now, notice "al salat al wusta", the word wusta is not a "TIME OF DAY", like FAJR means MORNING, and AAISHA means EVENING, why not call it SALAAT-AL-NOON (DHUR)???
and AL SALAT-AL-WUSTA is the only one that has a position mentioned with it, "STANDING" (QUWMU).
it should also not be surprising, that this is the only one called "AL SALAT", meaning it is the only one seen as an INSTITUTION, while the other two are simply called SALAT, not AL SALAT, thus it is just "WORSHIP", meaning WORSHIP IN THE MORNING, and WORSHIP IN THE EVENING, not a specific MORNING WORSHIP and a SPECIFIC EVENING WORSHIP.
and if you really want to be honest, it says let YOUR SERVANT GO WORSHIP, while you use that time for yourself away from them, but if thsi was about MOSLEMS, all MOSLEMS WORSHIP TOGETHER, dont they???
according to the above, while the SERVANTS were WORSHIPING, the MASTER was chilling, using that as quality time for self. so these must not have been seen as MANDATORY upon the MOSLEM.
and isn't it strange to you that out of 114 chapters, and all of the thousands of verses, only three verses mention SALAT at all??? but we are supposed to be doing these FIVE TIMES A DAY, EVERY DAY (for the rest of our lives), we are supposed to perform certain acts that we cannot even find in the KORAN (QURAN)??? if it was that important, to do it the way they have made up, wouldn't it be ALL OVER THE KORAN (QURAN)???
and so you can see that as I have been saying all this time, we perform SALAT every FRIDAY EVENING/NIGHT (A'AISHA) at the HOLY DAY MEETING, and at every SUNDAY SCHOOL (NOON/WUSTA), when we STAND IN SALAT BEFORE ALLAH (swt). and the WORSHIP we do at the FRIDAY MEETING and SUNDAY SCHOOL should be DONE EVERYDAY LIKE ONE IS AT SUNDAY SCHOOL and FRIDAY SERVICE.
you are a MOSLEM everyday, not only on FRIDAY and SUNDAY, thus you shouldn't only be performing SALAT (SELAT) on FRIDAY and SUNDAY. everyday that you are a MOSLEM you should perform;
WORSHIP YOUR FATHER ALLAH (swt) when you wake up in the morning (sometime from sunrise to noon), in the middle (sometime between noon to sunset) of the day, and in the EVENING/NIGHT (sometime after sunset) before you go to bed.
you are supposed to STAND BEFORE ALLAH'S FACE in everything you think, say and do, and this is called IHSAN (AHSEN); THE VERY BEST ACTION.
and when STANDING at SALAT you are supposed to speak i a certain tone of voice;
17:110. Quli odAAoo Allaha awi odAAoo alrrahmana ayyan ma tadAAoo falahu al-asmao alhusna wala tajhar bisalatika wala tukhafit biha waibtaghi bayna thalika sabeelan
YUSUFALI: Say: "Call upon Allah, or call upon Rahman: by whatever name ye call upon Him, (it is well): for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names. Neither speak thy Prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between."
PICKTHAL: Say (unto mankind): Cry unto Allah, or cry unto the Beneficent, unto whichsoever ye cry (it is the same). His are the most beautiful names. And thou (Muhammad), be not loud-voiced in thy worship nor yet silent therein, but follow a way between.
SHAKIR: Say: Call upon Allah or call upon, the Beneficent Allah; whichever you call upon, He has the best names; and do not utter your prayer with a very raised voice nor be silent with regard to it, and seek a way between these.
and so the MOSLEMS of the MSTA fulfill all of this to the letter, dont we???
it is also said in the KORAN (QURAN);
38:32. Faqala innee ahbabtu hubba al khayri AAan thikri rabbee hatta tawarat bi al hijabi
YUSUFALI: And he said, "Truly do I love the love of good, with a view to the glory of my Lord,"- until (the sun) was hidden in the veil (of night):
PICKTHAL: And he said: Lo! I have preferred the good things (of the world) to the remembrance of my Lord; till they were taken out of sight behind the curtain.
SHAKIR: Then he said: Surely I preferred the good things to the remembrance of my Lord-- until the sun set and time for Asr prayer was over, (he said):
notice SHAKIRS VERSION says "TIME FOR ASR PRAYER", but in the KORAN (QURAN) it doesnt say SALAT or ASR, look at it for yourself above. he had to add that in there, and there are other areas in these KORAN (QURAN) versions you will see this same thing being done in ENGLISH, but in the ARABIAN (GULF ARABIC), you wont find it.
this is why we do not follow the ORIENTAL IDEA of ISLAM, we follow the KORAN IDEA of ISLAM, according to what we here in NORTH, CENTRAL and SOUTH AMERICA from the MOORISH descent and descendancy actually see in the KORAN (QURAN), not what someone elses TRADITIONS say. as I continue to tell people, BARATO IS DEAD!!!
and this understanding is the root, source, and cause of all MOORISH KORAN THOUGHT, the foundation of our NEW MOORISH WORLD VIEW.
so as we can now see/view more clearly;
1. FAJR - SUNRISE
2. ZUHR - NOON
3. ASR - BEFORE SUNSET
4. MAGHRIB - SUNSET
5. ISHA - AFTER SUNSET
are not all seen/found in KORAN (QURAN), and yet, if you will notice, in AL-ISLAM they keep you focused on PRAYERS more than anything else. but 99.99% of what they have you performing cannot be found in the HOLY KORAN (QURAN) OF MECCA.
in WIKIPEDIA it also tells us;
"Some groups like Ahl-AlQuran (www.ahl-alquran.com) and The Submitters believe that the 5 Salat as they are practiced by Muslims today were passed down from Abraham generationally through the Arabs and the Children of Israel, to then be inherited by those who adopted the Quran (and rejected by most Jews and Christians), as a ritual of the religion of Abraham."
the group calling itself "AHLE-AL-QURAN" means the PEOPLE OF THE KORAN (QURAN). which is what all MOSLEMS are supposed to be, which is why it was sent to us in the first place.
and I agree with them 100%, the RAKAT as it exist today came from the HEBREWS that lived in the MOSLEM communities, it is a pratcied called "SHAMAE", which literally means TO BE HEARD, meanign TO BE HEARD BY GOD. and they basically do all of the same positions seen in the RAKAT. but even with the HEBREWS it is CUSTOMARY, it is a TRADITION, and a HEBREW is to only do it when they feel it is NECESSARY, or at specific SPECIAL OCCASSIONS, it is not something you do all day everyday. as a matter of fact, if you will pay attention, the HEBREWS (or those who follow them like the JEWS) all PRAY STANDING UP in their REGULAR (everyday) WORSHIP.
and please remember that ALL of the MOSLEMS are all HEBREWS (by PRACTICE).
but they wont tell you all of this, because it is a METHOD OF CONTROL, they have you CONSTANTLY performing (practicing) all kinds of things that have NO BENEFIT and NO BETTERMENT for the performer (practicer). these things do not make you FASTER, SMARTER, STRONGER, RICHER, etc. thye dont make you mre SINCERE, and they dont make ALLAH (swt) love you more, it is all for OUTWARD SHOW.
even the SHAMAE of the HEBREWS is usually performed in PRIVATE, not in PUBLIC around a bunch of people.
one last thing I will point out from WIKIPEDIA is;
"Some extreme elements totally disavow prayer altogether through different interpretations of the word 'Salat.' In one reportedly obscure source, claimed to be a Slavic/Arabic dictionary (source of the report is from www.free-minds.org) the word is reported to mean 'Obligation.' Some erroneously see the word Salat as a derivation of the root 'wasala' (defined as to connect/arrive) and one of its corresponding nouns 'silah', meaning connection. The word does have a meaning of 'to follow close behind' (See Lane's Lexicon) but other meanings not based on Classical Arabic dictionaries, and that stray FAR form the concept of prayer, have been proposed for the word within Quranist circles."
now I disagree with NOT giving PRAISE TO ALLAH (swt) at these times, but they are right about the idea of SALAT having more to do with WORSHIP (WORKING FOR), than just PRAYING. the root of the word WORSHIP is literally an ACT OF SERVICE, A WORTHY ACT. and thus deals more with the fulfillment of ones "OBLIGATION, DUTY and RESPONSIBILITIES" to ALLAH (swt). which is why the MASTER was told to RELAX while the SERVANTS were away taking care of their "SALAT", which obviously was going to take some time to do.
so in the most SECULAR FORM, the word SALAT can be seen as a set of "JOBS" given to a SERVANT by his MASTER that must be PERFORMED everyday. and this CONNECTION or FOLLOWING BEHIND is where the word RITUAL (from RITE) originates, if you know what "RITE" means.
anyway, it should not be strange to anyone that if we do our SALAT, DUWA, etc. according to the HOLY KORAN (QURAN) OF MECCA, that we wont be doing 99.99% of the things they have people doing in the SUNNI, SHIITE and SUFI sects of ISLAM.
they will not like me saying that, but they will not be able to prove what I am saying is wrong.
